Virginia Beach, VA–19 year old Swedish driver Oskar Krüger, winner of the 2015 Sunoco 200 Challenge, will take to the high banks of Daytona in January accompanied by Mitchum Motorsports’ team driver Dylan Murcott. The Sunoco 200 Challenge puts hundreds of European racing drivers, from various Sunoco-fueled championships, against one another using a unique points system. The winner of the Sunoco 200 Challenge is awarded a seat in a Mitchum Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro GS.R for the 200 mile Continental Tire Sportscar Challenge (CTSC) endurance race at Daytona. Oskar follows in the footsteps of three previous winners of the Challenge to test the high banks with American V8 power. “Winning the 2015 Sunoco 200 Challenge is fantastic.” Says young Krüger. “I’ve won lots of trophies in my career but this is the best prize I’ve ever won. Thanks to Iracing.com I’ve managed to “do a lot of laps” which I’m sure will help me get off to a flying start at the ROAR test before the Rolex 24 weekend when I get to try out the Sunoco Mitchum Camaro for the first time. I can’t wait!” continued Krüger.
Dylan Murcott is no stranger to the team, or the car, having piloted the modern Sunoco Camaro around the tight Lime Rock Park circuit in 2014. “I’m excited to get back into the Camaro and at Daytona of all places. The car is really neat to drive, and was a lot of fun around Lime Rock. But, Daytona gives opportunity to stretch out the legs of the Sunoco Camaro beast, and it will certainly be a rush. It’s going to be a good time, and I look forward to working with a good European driver in Oskar as well” says Murcott.
2015 will mark the fourth year of the partnership between Anglo American Oil Company and Mitchum Motorsports for the Sunoco 200 Challenge. Previous winners have been young promising drivers from the Radical Clubman’s Cup, Legends Championship and F3 Cup. Oskar Krüger is another winner coming out of the Radical Clubman’s Cup, and the first repeat winner representing a championship.
The #6.2 Mitchum Motorsports Sunoco Camaro takes to the banks and infield of Daytona International Speedway on Friday January 9th, 2015 to kick off Daytona Test days. The team returns to the fabled oval later in the month to contest the first round of the CTSC Championship on Friday January 23, 2015.
